The Artist;

The impulse;
Throughout my life I have been profoundly impressed by many artists. I often look to the past and from certain artists who from time to time provide necessary inspiration a mergence of fantasy and reality. We now turn to architecture which also fascinates me both the ultra modern metal and glass structures combined with the old buildings. Two interests which I believe have a relevance to my work. I gain tremendous pleasure in creating the ideas, visions and thoughts that are evident in my minds eye.

The process;
I have always been somewhat of a dreamer and for me painting is a way of exploring the depths of my own imagination, In general, I am not to concerned with the reflection of reality but rather with bringing the images and colours that reside inside my minds eye to life.

Once I have had the opportunity of building up a series of rough sketches or thoughts I then spend some time considering how to merge them together into a composition. My aim is to offer a different unconventional view of the world, my own individual interpretation of what I visualise.

My preferred medium is oil which allows me to blend colour in the precise way I choose But, I am also quite contented to utilise other mediums such as acrylic, gauche amongst others, on occasion, I mix the raw material with other substances in order to achieve a particular effect which allows me to have control over both the image and the texture of the finished work which I believe can in some instances be equally important to the finished composition.
