See Yourself? Where? 2007Supporting the ever-changing face of contemporary Manchester, See Yourself? Where?, mixed media, 2007, reflects living in the urban social landscape that is Manchester's modern cityscape. An inordinately large mechanical futuristic figure drives Manchester's sense of continuity and regeneration of hope, power and thought forward. Manchester's landmark architecture is pushed in a blood-red shopping trolley, as symbolic witness to human bloodshed at right-angles with ultimate sacrifice of Manchester's survival and growth after terrorism.
Man's goliath body is painted as a sealed oblong envelope partitioned into four triangles stuffed with financial payment in reward for honoured North-West trades offering employment and wage. Sealed, it shows no open division between people, geography, traditions and cultures and no deceitful "cash-for-questions" politics hiding personal issues with public histories in harmonious open-house Manchester either. The slight figure in the trolley is both supported by Manchester's new styled skyline, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with traditional buildings. Up-to-the-minute architecture transforms its facade resembling a handmade object describing the human condition.
Indicative of our throw-away recycled state, a banana skin and rubbish bin motions a circular " no-entry" sign screaming "enough" commemorating Manchester's identity with industrial expansion racing with increasing desire to live successfully in a multi-cultural metropolis.

Viewing 2007, a surreal/semi-abstract piece, the relationship between realism and surrealism, figurative and abstract. A man stands slightly to the left with a bulbous nose and heavy chin, he leans slightly against the wall whilst holding a dog lead in his left hand, at the other end of the lead is not what one would expect but instead a tiny black bird, pecking at the floor. The man stares forward at the display in front of him deciding and evaluating the work!!
